Creating AI Videos on an RTX 4060 (LTX-2 vs. Wan2)
Until now, we’ve focused on generating high-quality still images. However, in today's content landscape, static images have their limits. To push the boundaries of AI creativity, it's time to dive into AI Video Generation.
Generating video is a completely different beast compared to images. Video models are massive, requiring significantly more storage and high-end hardware. If your system barely manages low-spec optimized models like ZIT (Z-Image-Turbo), jumping into video might feel like hitting a wall.
When I tested Wan2 on my RTX 4060 (8GB VRAM), it was a struggle. The generation took forever, and I faced constant "Out of Memory" (OOM) errors.
On the other hand, LTX-Video managed to run relatively well. It took about 10 minutes to produce a 5-second clip. For a local 4060 setup, this is a massive win.
Getting Started with ComfyUI
1. Setting up the Workflow
First, open ComfyUI. If it is not installed yet, please refer to here. Once open, click the Templates tab on the left sidebar.
2. Finding the LTX Workflow
In the search bar, type LTX-Video Text-to-Video. Click on the version shown in the search results.
3. Loading the Model & Settings
After the workflow is loaded, ComfyUI may notify you if the required model files are missing. If a pop-up window appears stating that you need to download models, please proceed with the download. Keep in mind that these AI video models are quite large (several gigabytes), so ensure you have enough disk space and a stable connection.
Once the download is complete, click the "Refresh" or "Reload" button in the model selection node to ensure ComfyUI recognizes the new files. For this test, I set the resolution to 1024x720. We are targeting a 5-second video, which corresponds to approximately 121 frames in this setup.
4. The Final Result
Prompt: "A white Pomeranian is looking at the camera, on the bed." After a 10-minute wait, the quality is surprisingly impressive for a local 4060 setup.
Final Generated Clip
Conclusion
Honestly, waiting over 10 minutes for a 5-second video is a bit of a challenge for us local GPU users. But don't give up just yet! This first test shows that an RTX 4060 can definitely handle it—it just needs a bit of patience. I’m going to keep digging to find better and faster ways to make this process smoother for everyone.
